2019 Fall Blue Green Program

At North Lake College, we believe that learning is a lifelong process and knowledge is acquired in many different ways. We are very fortuitous to have a faculty, staff, and student body who share a vision for making this institution the very best. Sometimes our unswerving commitment to excellence leads to special awards or recognitions, which are announced at programs such as the Recognition Awards during this past Blue Green week. We are grateful to each of those individuals who submitted nominations for recognizing excellence at North Lake College and we are proud of the College for their achievements.

Below is a list of those being recognized this year:

Administrator of the Year-Dr. Floyd
Innovation of the Year-Blazer Connect
Jean Sharon Griffith Award-Renee Flowers
Minnie Stevens Piper Award-Brett Dyer
Part-time PSS of the Year-Jorge Hernandez
Student Life Teachers of the Year-Kathryn Martin and Hillary Gallego
Disability Services “Extra Mile’’ Award-Brandi Harris and Shani Suber
Sustainable Blazer-Garrett Rosser
President’s Awards-Brett Dyer, Guy Melton, and Lynne Smith-Brush
President’s Scholar-April Braden

As part of the program, Dr.Slejko and the leadership team recognized employees who consistently go above and beyond every day, caring about students, taking the initiative, and doing more each and every day. After lunch, Dr. Slejko shared data about our students in the College Updates and discussed plans to support students who are struggling. She announced all types of services for students such as the food pantry, scholarships, Connections resources, and Counseling Services to help students meet their needs.

Additional breakout sessions for Mindfulness and the Common Book kickoff gave employees opportunities to explore other ways we support our students beyond the classroom.  Wildfire appreciates all those who helped in the support of Blue Green, and we encourage you to check out the gallery of back to school Blue Green photos below!
