NLC – Calibration Part II: MATH @ A348

Classroom Instruction IconThis is a program-level core assessment training session for all faculty in MATH only. During this session, we will train faculty and adjuncts on how to score artifacts on the Empirical and Quantitative Literacy program-level (core) rubrics, called Quantitative Literacy. Faculty will work together within their group, scoring several sample artifacts. We will have small and large group discussions so that everyone understands the rubric and has any questions answered before they have to score artifacts.

NLC – Webinar – Jumpstarting College Success: Developing Students’ Active Learning Skills @ K322

Classroom Instruction Icon Adjunct Faculty Development Logo Active Learning Skills is a 1-credit hour course offered to students at Colorado Community Colleges Online (CCCOnline). Complementing statewide changes in approaches to college readiness and remediation, this 10-week session is designed to orient students to the college experience with personalized review in both math and English, alongside the exploration of a variety of proven learning strategies. EdReady was incorporated as a central component of this online course, which equips students with the foundational knowledge and skills necessary for postsecondary success. We will learn how the course was designed to engage students and increase retention, and we will explore early results and student and instructor feedback.

NLC – Teaching Squares Program @ K322

Employee Training IconAdjunct Faculty Development LogoInterested in being a part of Teaching Squares? Here’s your chance!  The Teaching Squares program provides advisors, faculty, and adjuncts with an opportunity to gain new insight into teaching through a non-evaluative process of reciprocal classroom observation and self-reflection.  As part of this program, you will find a partner that you would be interested in visiting their classroom 3 times during the semester. After you and your partner each complete 3 classroom visits, you will get together for your “Square Share.” This session provides you with an opportunity to meet and discuss class visits with your partner. It is a face-to-face connection with your colleague and a wonderful opportunity to share conversations about teaching and learning.The final meeting date for Teaching Squares will be our Round Up, where we will share what things you learned from the experience.

By completing the full series of sessions in the program, on your IAP.  Here are the time commitments for Teaching Squares:

  • 1.5 hours – Opening/Kickoff (Lunch will be provided.)
  • 3 hours – Class Visits: You will visit the class of your fellow square colleague 3 times.
  • 1 hour – Square Share: You will meet to discuss your class visits with your partner
  • 1.5 hours – Round Up (Lunch will be provided.)

Attendees receive 7.0 PDUs

Employee Training Icon In this presentation, we will discuss the purpose behind Disability Awareness Month, provide examples of the various disabilities students may have, examples of what this looks like in the classroom (along with accommodations we provide), and will go over the do’s and dont’s when working with someone who has a disability. We plan for this to be an open discussion of more than just accommodations in the classroom; we want to discuss disability as a whole in both academia and work settings and answer any questions that the general public may not know.

Employee Training IconA hilarious, honest, no-holds-barred approach to sexuality education. We’ll start by covering a variety of sexuality topics including but not limited to, Sex, Love, Healthy Relationships, Communication, and Consent and see where the conversation takes us when students start texting in anonymous questions to be answered live during the event. Students will leave educated, informed, and empowered to take charge of their sexuality in safe and appropriate ways.
